German expressionism

I absoloutely love movies with a twist and one that comes to mind is an old 1920 silent film 'The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari.'  I watched this film for my A level moving image arts.  At first i was worried i wouldnt like it because it is a silent movie, infact its the total opposite.  The music makes it more intense and adds more atmosphere drawing the audience in.  The movie is a famous example of german expressionism and is believed to be one of the most greatest horror movies of all time.  I really like the style of the film with the angular set design and dramatic shadows creating a disturbing visual effect. Most modern movies have a pretty predictable ending but this twisted ending took me by surprize.
