Statement of intentions
For my three minute production i am going to produce a film based on the horror/comedy genre.  This type of genre makes the audience experience a sense of fear however i hope to show a comical side to my film, this will be achieved at the end of the film as a sense of fear is built up throughout with an unexpected twist at the end.  I hope this will surprise my audience.
Lighting is a very important aspect to focus on when making a horror movie, as it can create a creepy atmosphere.  I also wan to experiment with different camera techniques such as various camera angles.  This can create a creepier effect.  I hope to use very eerie music to help me set the scene.  Lighting combined with sound should portray a sense of fear to the audience.
I have been inspired by many directors and films.  One being The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari which  is a 1920 silent film directed by Robert Wiene.  It is a german expressionism horror movie with a twist ending.  Another film is Alfred hitchcocks ‘psycho.’
At the beginining of my movie i hope to have it in black and white, i think this adds more to the horror effect and like George Romeros film night of the living dead it will give the movie more of a grainy black and white effect.  i hope to have the end of my movie in colour to portray the comical side and a more upbeat mood. I have chosen chosen carefully about my setting as it has to portray to the audience a creepy and frightening mood and atmosphere.  I have chosen a dark cathedral in the evening just approaching nightfall.  Most of the objects in my movie will be natural such as tress in the background, streetlights and the cathedral.  My costumes worn by my actors are a dress and a coat for the man who is dressed up as a woman and a hoodie and tracksuit worn by the young boy.
The narrative structure of my movie is fairly easy to follow.  I have chosen not to use any dialogue in my movie. I want to add a sense of mystery to my movie and the story will be told by the acting of my characters facial expressions, body language, sound effects and the score.
I will be using no diagetic sound such as my soundtrack which i will create in garageband.  I will create a light slow music which i hope will build up tension and create suspence.  I will also use many sound effects such as screams and footsteps which i will record myself.    There will be no dialouge in my movie as i would like the score and acting to tell the story.  Music that has inspired me is the psycho soundtrack as it is very fast pace with stabbing like sounds.  This music is great for building up tension and then releasing it.  The music at the end of my movie will be a fast upbeat tune to work well with the comical aspect.
I want to experiment by using different camera techniques such as low angles to create the feeling of someone being followed like in the movie ‘The Grudge’ the camera follows the woman's legs as she frantically runs in fear up the stairs.  Since my movie has a comical twist revealing the two characters are not as the seem i need to keep my characters faces hidden for the first half of my movie.  So i will be using low angles of their feet and behind shots.
When referring to cinematography there are many areas i will have to discuss.  The lighting in my movie will be very low key as it is being shot at night.  The lights i will use to highlight areas will be natural lights from the street lights, torches whic i can shine on my actors faces to give it a spooky feel and also car headlights.  I hope to have my film in  black and white during the first half to portray fear and also show the horror genre however at the end i hope to switch to colour to show the comical side to my movie  like in the wizard of oz where it has very over exaggerated colours such as the yellow brick road.

synopsis
My three minute production falls under the horror/comedy genre.  i hope to produce a short that makes the audience experience a sense of fear and dread but also find the ending of my movie comical and humorous.  The movie is about a girl standing waiting for a lift at night.  Suddenly she gets chased by someone who she is unable to see because of the dark.  She runs until she is backed up against a door unable to escape.  This is where the movie takes the comical twist the music changes and the girl is really a man dressed up and her attacker is revealed to be a young boy.  They then undergo a series of comical events.
